Iran Urges Global Response to Israeli War Crimes in Gaza, Lebanon

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi urged the international community to intensify diplomatic efforts to end Israeli war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon, secure a ceasefire, and facilitate humanitarian aid delivery.

Araqchi called for collective diplomatic measures to stop the Israeli atrocities against civilians in Gaza and Lebanon, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian aid.

In letters sent to foreign ministers across the globe on Thursday, Araqchi condemned the ongoing Israeli military operations, which have resulted in the deaths, injuries, and displacement of a significant number of innocent civilians, as well as international aid workers.

He highlighted the widespread destruction of residential and public infrastructure in both conflict zones.

Araqchi warned that Israel’s criminal actions pose a serious threat to both regional and global peace, and represent a clear examples of war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity.

“The unlimited impunity the Israeli regime enjoys has prompted it to expand the scope of its attacks on Lebanon,” he wrote, noting that massive airstrikes, including those using US-made bunker busters, have targeted residential areas.

He criticized the UN Security Council for failing to act, saying its inaction has emboldened Israeli leaders to continue their military operations.

The Iranian foreign minister also referenced Iran’s recent missile strikes on Israeli military positions in the occupied territories, known as True Promise II operation. Araqchi explained that these strikes were carried out after weeks of restraint, aimed at facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza.

He emphasized Iran’s commitment to international peace and security, stating that the operation reflected the country's responsibility in the region.

“If need be, the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared to take more and stronger defensive measures against any act of aggression,” Araqchi said, affirming that Iran would not hesitate to defend itself.

Araqchi also sent letters to United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi and President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, expressing concern over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza and Lebanon.

“Not only have the Israeli regime’s strikes targeted peoples, places and civilian infrastructure, but also all humanitarian principles,” Araghchi stated.

The Iranian foreign minister urged international humanitarian organizations to take immediate and meaningful steps to address the crisis, mobilize global assistance, and remove barriers to delivering aid to the affected areas.

In a separate letter, Araqchi called on Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to convene an emergency session to address the escalating situation in Gaza and Lebanon.
