Yemeni, Iraqi Resistance Groups Strike Israeli-Linked Vessels, Targets
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Yemeni and Iraqi resistance forces have stepped up operations targeting Israeli-linked vessels and strategic sites in response to the ongoing Israeli military aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, announced Thursday night that Yemeni forces had struck the "American oil tanker OLYMPIC SPIRIT" in the Red Sea using 11 ballistic missiles and two combat drones.
He stated that the vessel was directly hit and suffered significant damage.
Saree explained that the operation involved Yemen's missile, air defense, and naval units.
A second operation, he revealed, targeted the Malta-flagged container ship St. John in the Indian Ocean, which was struck by a cruise missile.
Saree said that the ship was violating Yemen's ban on commercial vessels bound for ports in Israeli-occupied territories.
He reiterated that Yemen's armed forces would maintain a naval blockade on ships heading to Israeli ports within their operational range.
Saree stressed that Yemen's operations would continue until Israel halts its aggression against Gaza, lifts the blockade, and ceases attacks on Lebanon.
Separately, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iraqi resistance factions, announced on Friday that it had conducted an operation targeting an Israeli site in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The resistance group said it attacked a "vital target" in the Israeli port city of Eilat using drones.
"In continuation of our resistance against the occupation and in support of our brothers in Palestine and Lebanon, our fighters attacked a vital target in occupied Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) on Friday, using drones," the group's statement read.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq pledged to sustain operations against strategic facilities in the Israeli-occupied territories.
The group has been carrying out attacks on Israeli targets since Israeli genocidal war on Gaza began in October last year and has also struck US military bases in Iraq and Syria in response to Washington's support for Israeli aggressions.
