IRGC Plans Funeral for General Martyred in Beirut
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Funeral processions have been planned in Iraq and Iran for senior IRGC commander Brigadier General Abbas Nilforooshan who was martyred along with the secretary general of Hezbollah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon on September 27.
The public relations department of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps announced on Sunday that funeral services will be held for the senior Iranian military adviser in the Iraqi holy cities of Najaf and Karbala and in Iran’s northeastern holy city of Mashhad on October 14.
People of Tehran can attend the funeral of the general at the Imam Hussein (AS) square at 9 am local time on October 15, the IRGC said.
The martyr will be laid to rest after the final funeral service in Iran’s central city of Isfahan on Thursday, October 17.
General Nilforooshan, senior commander of the IRGC Quds Force and commander of the IRGC in Lebanon, was pronounced martyred in the Israeli attack that targeted a number of residential buildings in Beirut’s densely populated southern suburb of Dahiyeh on September 27.
