Hezbollah Drone Strike on Israeli Military Base Kills Four Soldiers, Injures Dozens
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hezbollah carried out a drone attack on an Israeli military training camp in northern occupied territories on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of four soldiers and injuring over 60 others, according to official sources.
The Lebanese resistance group said it launched "a squadron of attack drones" targeting an Israeli military training site for the Golani Brigade, located in Binyamina, south of Haifa.
Israel's national emergency medical service confirmed that at least four soldiers were killed, and 61 others sustained injuries in the attack. Independent reports suggested the number of injured could exceed 100, with seven soldiers reported in critical condition.
The Golani Brigade, a key infantry unit in the Israeli military, was conducting training exercises when the drone strike occurred.
Other Israeli military sites have recently come under fire, including a rehabilitation and maintenance center south of Haifa hit by rockets, and a logistics base in the occupied Golan Heights.
Hezbollah's fighters also engaged Israeli forces near a town in southern Lebanon, using machine guns and rockets to repel the soldiers and force their withdrawal.
In a statement, Hezbollah said, "The fighters of the Islamic Resistance targeted (for the fifth time) a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in the Manara settlement with a rocket barrage." Additional attacks targeted Israeli troops at the Hounin barracks and near the Fatima Gate in Kfar Kila.
Hezbollah described the operations as a response to Israeli airstrikes in Beirut's central neighborhoods, which killed 22 people on Thursday, and in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
Earlier clashes were reported in Aita al-Shaab, where Hezbollah fighters used machine guns, rockets, and artillery to engage Israeli forces.
Israeli media reported that two drones were launched from Lebanon, with one breaching Israel's advanced air defense systems and hitting the target.
The recent drone strike follows Saturday's attack when a drone struck a Tel Aviv suburb, causing damage but no injuries.
Hezbollah said it successfully penetrated Israel's air defenses, stating, "In a qualitative and complex operation, the missile force launched dozens of missiles towards various targets to occupy the Israeli air defense systems."
The resistance movement said that while missiles were launched, drones were simultaneously dispatched to Acre and Haifa, bypassing Israeli radars to strike the Golani Brigade training camp.
