Iran Pushing to Bring Israel to Account for Assassination of IRGC General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry highlighted the efforts to hold the Zionist regime accountable for the assassination of IRGC commander General Abbas Nilforoushan, who was martyred along with the secretary general of Hezbollah in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon on September 27.

The Foreign Ministry released a statement on Monday about the martyrdom of Brigadier General Nilforooshan.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again expresses felicitations and condolences over the martyrdom of the brave and courageous commander of the IRGC, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforooshan, during the bombing of the residential areas of Beirut by the Zionist regime on September 27, to the Supreme Leader, the dear nation of Iran and other free nations of the world as well as the noble family of the martyr and sends greetings to the divine soul of that noble martyr,” it said.

“The entire history of the Zionist regime’s crimes since its emergence until now shows that appeasement in the face of the aggressions and crimes by the regime emboldens it to become more violent and commit more crimes,” the statement added.

“The assassination of the senior Iranian military official is an illegal act and an unforgivable crime, and the Islamic Republic of Iran will undoubtedly use all its capacities to hold the Zionist regime accountable for committing this crime,” the ministry stated.

General Nilforooshan, a senior commander of the IRGC Quds Force and commander of the IRGC in Lebanon, was pronounced martyred in the Israeli attack that targeted a number of residential buildings in Beirut’s densely populated southern suburb of Dahiyeh on September 27.
