Iran Condemns Israeli Attack on Gaza Hospital Tent Camp

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s deadly airstrike on a hospital complex in central Gaza where displaced Palestinians had sought shelter, denouncing the attack as a blatant example of war crimes.

In a statement on Tuesday, Esmaeil Baqaei roundly condemned the brutal Israeli attack on the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital complex in Deir el-Balah with incendiary bombs that ignited a tragic fire and killed several innocent Palestinians.

The Iranian spokesman decried the Israeli attack as a blatant example of war crimes and part of the Zionist regime’s plot for genocide in Palestine.

Highlighting the prohibition of aggression against civilian sites, particularly hospitals and medical centers, under international law, Baqaei said the Israeli regime’s recurrent and intentional strikes on hospitals and the massacre of patients, doctors and healthcare personnel are enough to prosecute and punish the Zionist regime’s leaders on a charge of war crimes.

He also lashed out at the sponsors of Israel, specifically the US and the UK, for obstructing any international measure, as by the International Criminal Court, to hold the Zionist authorities accountable.

The spokesman noted that the Israeli regime’s confidence about impunity has emboldened it to continue its crimes against Gaza and Lebanon, reminding the sponsors of Israel of their moral and international responsibilities.

At least four people have been killed and dozens of others wounded in the Israeli air attack on the hospital in Deir el-Balah.

Videos shared on social media showed rescuers scrambling to save people as they struggled to contain the fire.

Israeli forces have regularly attacked medical facilities in Gaza since the assault began more than a year ago. In recent months, it has repeatedly struck crowded shelters and tent sites.
