TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi arrived in Istanbul on Friday to take part in a meeting of the 3+3 format about the Caucasus.

In a post on his X account in the early hours of Friday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei said Araqchi travels to Turkey to take part in the 3rd meeting of the 3+3 regional cooperation platform, which includes Armenia, Azerbaijan Republic, Georgia, Iran, Russia, and Turkey.

“Bilateral meetings with participants and with host State top officials are also scheduled,” the spokesman added.

The 2nd meeting of the 3+3 Regional Platform was held in Tehran in October 2023.

Participants in the last meeting had stressed the need for the peaceful settlement of disputes in South Caucasus, as well as respect for the sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of all states.

The Iranian foreign minister has stepped up diplomatic efforts in recent weeks to address the regional conflicts and put an end to the Israeli regime’s crimes in Gaza and Lebanon.

He has visited Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Oman, Jordan, and Egypt in the past two weeks.
