Esteghlal Determined to Stop A High Riding Al Nassr

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Esteghlal FC will be determined to stop a high riding Al Nassr Club when the two sides square off in the AFC Champions League Elite 2024-25 on Tuesday.

It will, however, have to brush off its 3-0 defeat to Zob Ahan in the Iran Pro League on Friday while Al Nassr will head into the tie with a spring in its step after edging Al Shabab in the Saudi Pro League encounter.

Having opened its continental campaign with an impressive 3-0 defeat of Qatar's Al Gharafa, Esteghlal found itself on the receiving end of a 2-0 loss to Al Sadd SC two weeks ago.

While the head-to-head between the two sides is one win each, three of their previous six meetings with teams from Saudi Arabia have ended in defeat.

Al Nassr, meanwhile, has discovered its form after a slow start and look well placed to challenge for honors on the domestic and continental fronts.

A 2-1 win against Al Rayyan last time out took the team to four points and having not lost in its previous nine meetings with Iranian clubs, it will be confident of another three points on Tuesday.

The match will be held at the Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
