Iran Eyes Closer Ties with Algeria

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian congratulated Algeria on the 70th anniversary of its revolution, voicing Iran’s readiness to enhance relations with the Arab country in various fields.

In a message for his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Pezeshkian congratulated the African state on the anniversary of the outbreak of its liberating revolution.

He said the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s “inspiring” struggles for freedom has coincided with the 60th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Algeria.

Pezeshkian also expressed Iran’s readiness to strengthen and expand relations with Algeria in various fields.

In March 2024, Iran and Algeria signed six cooperation agreements during former Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi’s official visit to Algiers.

The agreements entail promotion of cooperation in the oil and gas industries, scientific and technological activities, knowledge-based economy, tourism industry, sports, and the media sector.
