IRGC Busts Terrorist Teams Amid War Game in SE Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force units smashed four teams of terrorists in the course of a military exercise in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, killing four.
The IRGC Ground Force has staged a war game, codenamed “Martyrs of Security”, in Sistan and Balouchestan.
The spokesperson for the drill, General Shafaei, said the IRGC servicemen have detected eight members of four teams of terrorists and outlaws in the course of the exercise.
He said the operational units of the IRGC Ground Force, in cooperation with the Intelligence Ministry’s provincial office and the Police forces, have “dealt lethal blows” to the “terrorist teams acting as proxies for the enemy” in the southeastern province on Thursday night.
The general said four terrorists have been arrested and four others killed in the operation, noting that one of the main elements of a terrorist group that was involved in a fatal attack on the Police forces in Taftan on October 26 has been also captured.
A considerable amount of ammunition and weapons have been confiscated in the operation, Shafaei said.
The spokesman stated that the IRGC Ground Force units used advanced equipment and combat drones and employed new reconnaissance and operational tactics to hit the terrorists.
On October 26, a patrol unit of the Law Enforcement Command of the Islamic Republic of Iran (FARAJA) came under attack in the Goharkooh region of Taftan county.
Armed outlaws opened fire on the patrol unit, killing 10 forces, including draftees and official Police servicemen.
