Iran Sympathizes with Serbia over Railroad Station Roof Collapse Casualties


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry offered condolences to Serbia over the fatal collapse of a roof at the entrance of a railroad station in the city of Novi Sad.

“We are so saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the railway station canopy collapse in Novi Sad, Serbia,” Esmaeil Baqaei said in a post on his X account on Sunday morning.

“We offer our condolences to the families of the victims and stand in solidarity with the government and people of Serbia,” he added.

Rescue workers have scoured piles of concrete and twisted metal for survivors after a roof collapsed at the entrance of a railroad station in Novi Sad, killing 14 people.

The collapse of a 35-meter length of roofing occurred on Friday in the city about 70 km northwest of the capital, Belgrade.
