Israel Strikes Gaza, Killing 33 As Hospitals Shut amid ‘Forced Starvation’

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In a severe escalation, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed 33 Palestinians and injured 156 in the last 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, while local authorities report dire shortages of food, water, and medicine after a month of siege.

The humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza worsens as residents endure continuous attacks and a month-long siege, leading to what local officials are calling "forced starvation."

Survivors are struggling to access essential supplies as relentless Israeli airstrikes target schools, hospitals, and residential areas. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza, was hit again by Israeli forces last night. The attack damaged critical facilities, including the intensive care unit (ICU), where a four-day-old child, Mohammed, is reportedly the only remaining patient.

In central Gaza, two Palestinians were injured while picking olives, and five others killed. Multiple airstrikes also struck the Nuseirat refugee camp, destroying residential buildings and agricultural lands. One recent strike injured five people, including young children, and earlier raids on residential areas killed at least two.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, all hospitals in northern Gaza are now out of service due to continuous bombardment and a military blockade preventing aid from entering the area.

The office reported that 1,800 people have been killed, with another 4,000 wounded in northern Gaza over the past month. Civil defense teams attempting to respond to the crisis have faced attacks, arrests, and restrictions, exacerbating the already critical situation.

Amid these conditions, doctors at Kamal Adwan Hospital report severe shortages of electricity and medical supplies, with patients relying on limited IV solutions and fighting to survive as essential equipment fails. Mohammed, the infant left in the ICU, lost his family in the siege and struggles to breathe after the destruction of the hospital’s oxygen station.

The Gaza Health Ministry’s statistics reveal that at least 43,374 killed and 102,261 injured in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
