Iran, Norway Discuss Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Norwegian diplomats talked about the latest developments in Yemen.

Heading a delegation, Norway’s Special Representative for Yemen Heidi Johansen met with Ali Asghar Khaji, a senior adviser to Iran’s foreign minister on special political affairs in Tehran on Tuesday.

The two diplomats exchanged views on the latest political, on-the-ground, and international developments concerning Yemen, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

They both expressed deep concern over the escalation of the crisis, the expansion of regional conflicts, and the ongoing killing of innocent people in Gaza and Lebanon.

Johansen and Khaji called for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen.

Khaji highlighted the US’ destructive interference in the region and its opposition to the finalization of the peace process in Yemen. He described this approach as an example of destabilizing and interfering actions in the region.

He noted that since the beginning of the crisis, Iran has advocated for a political solution by presenting a political initiative and reiterated that stability and security in Yemen can only be achieved through dialogue and a political resolution.

The Norwegian diplomat, for her part, said Norway agrees with Iran that Yemen’s issue must be resolved through political dialogue among the Yemeni parties.

She also called for intensified international efforts to establish stability and peace in Yemen.
