Muslim Unity to Foil US, Israeli Plots: Pezeshkian

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said unity and solidarity among Muslim nations will thwart the plots hatched by the US and the Israeli regime.

Strengthening interaction among Islamic countries and enhancing cohesion among Muslims would help neutralize the enemies’ plots, including those hatched by the US and the Zionist regime against the interests of regional countries, Pezeshkian said in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam al-Sabbagh in Tehran on Wednesday.

“Iran will not cease supporting its friends. We believe that unity and cooperation among Islamic countries can bring progress to all Muslims”, the president noted, adding that the Zionist regime would not commit crimes against Islamic countries if they were united.

Pezeshkian referred to the relations between Iran and Syria, emphasizing that the relationship between the two countries is going beyond diplomatic relations, and is based on shared beliefs as well as cultural and historical commonalities.

Iran is willing to develop and deepen ties with the brotherly and friendly country of Syria in all fields, he said, the president’s website reported.

"We are ready to deepen cooperation and elevate our relations with all Islamic countries based on mutual respect and interests, and this approach is particularly evident in our relationship with Syria," Pezeshkian stated.

The Syrian foreign minister, for his part, said that Tehran-Damascus relations are continuously expanding.

Syria intends to define a new perspective of interactions in various economic, trade and cultural fields based on the “excellent political relations” between the two countries, he stated.

The top diplomat appreciated Iran for supporting the Syrian government and people, and said that the two countries have common challenges, especially in the face of the US-Zionist project to alter the geopolitics of the region.

Resistance is the most effective way to counter this project, and “we believe that any weakness, hesitance, or retreat in this regard will weaken us”, Sabbagh said.

Today, in addition to the Zionist regime’s moves against Syria in the south, foreign-backed forces are also active in northern Syria, while there are also moves to separate Syria from the Resistance Axis, the Syrian foreign minister said, stressing that his country “will never separate from the Resistance Axis."
