New Advanced Centrifuges Come into Operation in Iran: Parliament Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has begun to run a set of new advanced centrifuge machines for uranium enrichment in retaliation for the politically-motivated resolution the UN nuclear agency’s Board of Governors passed against Tehran a few days ago, the speaker of the Iranian Parliament said.

Addressing a parliamentary meeting on Sunday, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf denounced the “unrealistic, political and destructive” approach by the European troika –France, the UK and Germany- that resulted in the adoption of the “unjustified and nonconsensual” resolution at the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors.

He said the EU3 has used Iran’s nuclear activities as an excuse to justify its illegitimate measures, adding that the European troika has questioned the IAEA’s independence with its insincerity and breach of commitments and is undermining the constructive atmosphere for stronger cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear agency.

Qalibaf noted that Iran immediately prepared a retaliatory response to this “political abuse of the IAEA’s Board of Governors” and operated a set of new advanced centrifuges.

He also warned the EU3 that a continuation of its “political and unconstructive decisions” will force countries to move towards measures outside the framework of the IAEA’s protocols in order to safeguard their national security.

Qalibaf  expressed hope that the IAEA and the heads of the states that voted against the anti-Iranian resolution with the purpose of supporting the Board of Governors’ independence and technical credibility would end the EU3 and the US’ cruel domination in order to allow for the course of cooperation between Iran and the IAEA to go on in a non-political atmosphere.
