Diplomats Discuss Expansion of Iran-Iraq Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy foreign ministers of Iran and Iraq weighed plans for the enhancement of relations between the two neighbors.

Vahid Jalalzadeh, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for consular affairs, who has visited Baghdad, held a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations Mohammed Hussein Mohammed Bahr Al-Uloom on Thursday.

The two diplomats condemned the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in the region and welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon, describing it as a victory for the people of Lebanon and Hezbollah.

Hailing the close relations between Iran and Iraq, Jalalzadeh highlighted the frequent high-level visits, consultations, and bilateral agreements as testimonies to the depth of the two countries’ friendly relations.

He also described the first official foreign visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Iraq as a reflection of the strategic depth of bilateral ties.

For his part, the Iraqi deputy minister praised the exemplary ties between the two neighbors.

He also expressed Iraq’s strong desire to strengthen and enhance relations with Iran.
