Israeli Actions Validate Iran’s Regional Warnings: Araqchi

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi stated that Israel’s conduct in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria confirms Tehran’s warnings about the dangers the Israeli regime poses to the entire region.

In an exclusive interview with Egypt’s Al-Ghad TV, held on the sidelines of the Developing Islamic Countries Summit, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi outlined Tehran's views on regional and international developments and bilateral relations with Egypt.

Referring to the US and Israel pursuing a long-term plan to weaken and divide major Islamic nations in order to strengthen Israeli control over the region, Araqchi said, “Israel’s behavior during the Gaza war, the genocide of over 60,000 women, children, and civilians in Gaza and Lebanon, as well as its attacks on Syria that destroyed its defensive, economic, and infrastructural foundations, prove the accuracy of Iran’s warnings about Israel’s threat to the entire region.”

Highlighting Iran’s advisory presence in Syria to combat Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) and other terrorist groups, Araqchi warned that instability in Syria could allow terrorism to resurge, endangering the entire region.

He described Iran's support for Syria as a defense of the Syrian people, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity against Zionist and terrorist threats, rather than of an individual.

Araqchi emphasized that Iran consistently offered recommendations within frameworks such as the Astana peace process, but that the“Syrian government operated independently and was not under Iran’s or Russia’s control.”

The Minister reaffirmed that the resistance movement’s primary objective is to combat Israeli occupation and defend Palestinian rights. He noted that despite significant losses during the Gaza war, including the martyrdom of several number of its leaders, the resistance inflicted “heavy blows on the occupiers, forcing Israel to negotiate and accept a ceasefire in Lebanon.”

Araqchi described the resistance as a sacred cause that persists despite assassinations of its leaders, asserting that it “emerges stronger each time.”

Rejecting claims that resistance groups operate under Iran’s control, Araqchi stressed that “these groups act independently but share a common goal with Iran: fighting the Israeli regime and supporting the Palestinian people.”

On bilateral relations, Araqchi praised Iran and Egypt’s historical and cultural significance, emphasizing that strengthening cooperation between the two Muslim nations aligns with the broader interests of the Islamic world. He also highlighted Iran’s support for Egypt’s efforts to aid Palestinians and broker ceasefires.
