Iran Condemns US Strikes on Yemen

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson strongly condemned the air strikes that the US conducted on Yemen’s capital Sana’a.

In a statement on Sunday, Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the “recurrent aggressive” US attacks on Yemen as a blatant violation of the principles and criteria of international law, the UN Charter, and the international humanitarian law, describing them as a clear example of “war crimes”.

The Iranian spokesman also praised the Yemeni people for their honorable solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine, saying the support is rooted in Yemenis’ faith and determination to side with the oppressed against occupation and genocide.

Baqaei called for serious action by the Islamic world, the regional countries, and the United Nations in the face of the aggressive measures of the US, the UK and the Zionist regime against Yemen.

US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US Army operations in the Middle East, said on Saturday that it has conducted air strikes against targets in Sana’a.

A senior Houthi official condemned the US strikes as “terrorist attacks”.

“The American terrorist attacks confirm the lawless rampage and criminality in the region,” Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council of Ansarullah, posted on X.
