Survivors Reported As Azerbaijani Airlines Plane Crashes near Aktau
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Azerbaijani Airlines flight en route from Baku to Grozny crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on Wednesday, according to the Kazakh Emergency Ministry.
The plane caught fire after the crash, prompting an emergency response to extinguish the flames. Early reports suggest there are survivors, the ministry said in a statement.
"Fifty-two personnel and 11 units of equipment from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan have been deployed. Upon arrival, the aircraft was found ablaze. Rescue operations are ongoing, and information about the victims is being clarified," the statement added.
The Kazakh authorities confirmed that the aircraft belonged to Azerbaijan Airlines, as reported by the IFAX news agency.
Further details about the crash and the condition of the passengers are yet to be released, as emergency teams continue their efforts on the scene.
