Iran Sympathizes with China over Earthquake Deaths
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry offered condolences to China on the loss of lives in a powerful earthquake that struck a remote region of Tibet on Tuesday morning.
Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims as well as the government and people of China following the deadly quake in Tibet.
He also wished a speedy recovery for those injured and affected by the natural disaster.
At least 126 people were killed and 188 others were injured in the quake that hit a remote region of Tibet on Tuesday morning, with tremors felt across the Himalayas in neighboring Nepal, Bhutan and parts of northern India.
More than 3,600 houses have been damaged.
The 7.1-magnitude quake struck at 9:05 am local time at a depth of 10 kilometers and was followed by multiple aftershocks, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
