TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian big-budget movie Rastakhiz, a narration about the epic uprising of Prophet Muhammad's grandson Imam Hussein (PBUH), will be screened in the Arab countries under the Arabic title of “al-Qurban”.
The grand cinematic projects will hit cinemas in Iran on Eid al-Fitr, the great Muslim holiday that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Directed by Iranian filmmaker Ahmad Reza Darvish, the movie has been financed by some Iranian and foreign film companies and its post-production stage was completed at a British studio.
Many famous international figures involved in the motion picture industry contributed to the Iranian film.
‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ famous actor David Sterne, Talhat Hamdi and Fawaz Sarwar from Syria, Dawood Hussain from Kuwait, and Yusuf Shekarchi from Iraq are some of the foreign actors who star at the film.
British-Indian film editor Tariq Anwar was in charge of editing the film. He was nominated for an Academy Award in 2011 for his work in The King’s Speech.
The film skillfully illustrates Imam Hussein’s epic on Ashura in Karbala and his martyrdom along with the tragedy of his companions, according to Press TV.
Ashura marks the day when Imam Hussein, along with 72 of his companions, was martyred in a battle against the second Umayyad caliph in Karbala, Iraq, more than 14 centuries ago.
