Senior Greek Lawmaker Due in Iran Next Saturday
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Greek Parliament is scheduled to pay a visit to Tehran next week for talks with Iran's high-ranking officials.
Heading a parliamentary delegation, the senior Greek lawmaker is due to arrive in Tehran on May 7.
His visit will take place at the invitation of Chairman for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
The delegation will meet Boroujerdi, as well as a number of other Iranian officials during the four-day trip to discuss the development of bilateral ties.
The trip comes against a backdrop of international enthusiasm for enhanced ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, had signed three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Iran in an official visit on February aimed at strengthening bilateral political and economic relations.
