Anti-Iran MKO Terrorists to Be Fully Expelled from Iraq in 45 Days: Envoy
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Danaeifar announced that the remaining members of the terrorist Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) will be expelled from the Arab country within the next 45 days.
“Up to now, the Iraqi government has expelled 65 percent of the MKO terrorists with the cooperation of the United Nations and the last remaining elements of the group will be expelled in 45 days,” Danaeifar said on Thursday.
Since the past, Baghdad have sought to expel the MKO members, but its process had been delayed due to pressures from the US and some of its allies, he added.
“The hands of the terrorist group are stained with the blood of not only the Iranian people but also the Iraqi nation,” the Iranian diplomat noted.
On July 9, the MKO terrorists held a meeting in the French capital of Paris, with diplomats from some Arab states, including Saudis, making hostile remarks against Iran in the gathering.
The MKO - listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community - fled Iran in 1986 for Iraq and was given a camp by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
They fought on the side of Saddam during the Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88). They were also involved in the bloody repression of Shiite Muslims in southern Iraq in 1991 and the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.
The notorious group is also responsible for killing thousands of Iranian civilians and officials after the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
More than 17,000 Iranians, many of them civilians, have been killed at the hands of the MKO in different acts of terrorism including bombings in public places, and targeted killings.
