Iran to Raise US Dishonoring of JCPOA at Joint Session: FM Zarif
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The subject of Washington’s lack of commitment to a lasting deal on Tehran’s nuclear program will be mooted in an upcoming session of the JCPOA joint commission, a group tasked with monitoring commitments to the agreement, Iran’s foreign minister announced.
Iran is going to attend another meeting of the JCPOA joint commission in the near future to address the US lack of commitment to the deal, among other issues, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.
When asked whether Iran has ever tried to mention US misconduct at the joint commission meetings, Zarif said, “As of today, we have convened the commission whenever necessary, and have designed solutions to resolve the problems in the meetings.”
The joint commission was formed in October 2015 to oversee the process of implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
While the 159-page deal came into force in January, the US has come under fire for its failure to fully implement the accord.
Back in March, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said Americans have yet to fulfill what they were supposed to do as per the nuclear deal.
Iran still has problems in its banking transactions or in restoring its frozen assets, because Western countries and those involved in such processes are afraid of Americans, the Leader said at the time, criticizing the US for its moves to prevent Iran from taking advantage of the sanctions removal.
