Olfati Wins Iran’s First Medal in Gymnastics in Asian Games

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian gymnast Mahdi Olfati made history in the 2022 Asian Games by winning a silver medal in Hangzhou on Friday.

He finished second in the men's vault with 14.783 points. This was Iran’s first-ever medal in gymnastics in the history of the Asian Games.

Japanese gymnast Wataru Tanigawa won the gold with 15.016 points and bronze medal went to Malaysian Aimy Muhammad Sharul with 14.466 points.

A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories compete across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.

Iran has sent 289 male and female athletes to Hangzhou in 34 sports events.
