Blatter to Meet Parliament Speaker Tomorrow
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – President of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Joseph Sepp Blatter is scheduled to meet the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Thursday, Larijani’s international affairs adviser said Wednesday.
“Sepp Blatter’s meeting with President Hassan Rouhani, too, is scheduled for tomorrow after his meeting with the parliament speaker,” said Hossein Sheikholeslam.
The FIFA chief arrived in Tehran early Wednesday morning to attend the 2nd International Science and Football Congress.
Blatter is scheduled to have a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and to attend a press conference before leaving Iran at 3:30 pm, Thursday afternoon.
He is also scheduled to meet the Iranian football authorities as well as officials of the country's sports and youth ministry.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa will also arrive in Tehran Thursday morning to attend the conference.
The FIFA top official congratulated Iran for the national Iranian football team’s presence in 2014 Brazil World Cup and said that the Iranian under-17 national football team’s failure to reach the next round of U-17 World Cup was only due to the Nigerian team’s solid teamwork.
