Leader Underscores Islamic Lifestyle in Urban Development
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei emphasized the necessity for comprehensive plans to give serious attention to the promotion of Islamic lifestyle in the urban development.
Addressing a gathering of Tehran's municipal officials and city council members on Monday, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called on the authorities to pay special attention to Islamic lifestyle in the architecture of buildings in the capital city, noting that the city’s structure should create a good atmosphere for the Islamic lifestyle.
Pointing to the great impact of architecture and facade of the buildings on the contemporary lifestyle, the Leader insisted that the urban spaces and buildings should be designed in a way that the Islamic lifestyle could materialize more easily.
The Leader, however, noted that the architectural designs in the Iranian capital and its landscape do not fit the qualities of an Islamic city, and urged the municipality and the city council to make the issue of Islamic lifestyle a high priority in planning for urban development.
Ayatollah Khamenei further placed emphasis on the crucial role of Tehran municipality cultural centers, arguing that careful planning and wise cultural moves in these centers can seriously contribute to social development.
In relevant remarks on December 10, 2013, the Leader had warned against the hostile moves by enemies of Iran to damage the country’s cultural values, and urged authorities to deal with the issue of cultural onslaught in a wise, and well-assessed manner.
Speaking in a gathering of Iranian cultural officials at the time, Ayatollah Khamenei urged caution in dealing with the cultural onslaught launched against Iran by the enemies, and emphasized the need for vigilance in the face of “activity of at least hundreds of audio, video, printed and Internet media in the world with the certain aim of affecting the Iranian nation’s mind and behavior.”
