Persian Gulf Littoral States' Tourists "Key" to Iran's Tourism Industry

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An adviser to Iran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization said Monday that tourists from the southern countries of the Persian Gulf and Iraq play key role in Iran's tourism since over 1.2mln tourists from the region visited Iran during the past 10 months.

“Persian Gulf littoral states’ tourists play an important role in Iranian tourism industry and Iran is considered a favorite destination for tourists from Bahrain, Kuwait, Emirates, and Saudi Arabia,” Manouchehr Jahanian said.

The CHTHO official said that in the past ten months’ more than 1.2 million tourists from the neighboring Arab countries visited Iran, adding that the figure shows a 50% increase compared to the same period last year.

The landscape of Iran is diverse, providing a range of activities from hiking and skiing in the Alborz Mountains, to beach holidays by the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea.

A growing number of tourists from around the globe visit the tourism-friendly infrastructure projects on the Persian Gulf island of Kish, which attracts around 1 million visitors per year, in addition to a majority of Iranian tourists.
