Iran Ready to Confront Israel: IRGC Commander
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) renewed Iran's preparedness to confront the Zionist regime of Israel.
“From 1400 kilometers away, our hand is on the trigger for (confronting) Israel,” Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Brigadier General Hossein Salami said Tuesday.
The commander’s remarks come in the backdrop of warmongering threats made by Zionist regime’s officials against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has frequently threatened unilateral military action against Iran to dismantle the Islamic Republic’s civilian nuclear facilities.
Iranian officials have dismissed the threats, saying that the Tel Aviv regime is too weak to dare make such a brazen move.
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that the Iranian nuclear program has been diverted toward military objectives.
