India Holding Major Military Exercise on Western Front

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - India is reportedly currently holding a major military exercise in the deserts of the western state of Rajasthan near the international border with Pakistan.

The exercise, codenamed "Sarvada Vijay" (Always Victorious), is being held with an aim of honing the combat skills of the Indian Army, "The Times of India" reported Tuesday.

A large number of tanks, infantry combat vehicles and howitzers have been deployed for the exercise which involves an elite corps of the Indian Army, the report said.

"Army chief General Bikram Singh will be visiting the Suratgarh area to review the exercise later this week," a source was quoted as saying.
