Commander: No Loophole in Iran’s Air Defense System

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Thanks to the domestically-made Ghadir long-range radar system, there remains no loopholes in Iran’s air defense system, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base announced Monday.

In a ceremony to put into operation Iran’s newest air defense radar system, dubbed the “Qadir” (Almighty), Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the advanced long-range radar reinforces the country’s integrated air defense network, letting no aircraft go stealth through the country’s airspace.

“Taking advantage of low signals, the Qadir system is very resistant in the electronic warfare,” the commander explained.

There is very little likelihood that the radar-evading missiles could detect the long-range radar, Esmaili added, noting that the new system enjoys “unique cutting-edge techniques.”

The Qadir radar system has been fully designed and manufactured by the military experts at the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force.

It is capable of using three-dimensional (3-D) technology to identify the airborne targets.  The also system enjoys nonstop monitoring activity.

With an approximate range of 1,100 kilometers, the homegrown radar system can even detect the targets with pretty small cross-section area.

Stationed in a radar base in the city of Garmsar, the new radar was officially integrated into the country’s air defense network this morning.
