Iranian VP to Meet with Latin American Officials in Bolivia

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said he will hold talks with officials from several Latin American countries during his trip to Bolivia.

Jahangiri made the remark on Friday before leaving Tehran for the Latin American country to participate in the 50th summit of the Group 77 (plus China), adding that the meetings will take place on the sidelines of the summit.

He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as president of the G77, in this conference will present its views for realization of the group’s objectives.

The 50th summit of the Group 77 is to be held on June 14 and 15 in Bolivia’s eastern city of Santa Cruz.

The Group of 77 was founded on June 15, 1964, by the Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Developing Countries issued at the conclusion of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The group is a coalition of developing countries designed to promote its members’ collective economic interests and create an enhanced joint negotiating capacity in the UN. The founding members of the organization were 77 countries, but by November 2013 the number of its member states increased to 133.
