World Cup 2014: England 0 – 0 Costa Rica
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - England national football team ended its disappointing World Cup with a goalless draw against Costa Rica on Tuesday.
England opened the Group D matches with a 2-1 defeat to Italy. The Three Lions then lost to Uruguay 2-0.
“We showed today what a good team we can be. I’m disappointed not to finish with the victory, but I don’t think we could have asked for a much better performance,” England coach Roy Hodgson told ITV.
“Apart from the first 10 or 12 minutes of the game, I thought we dominated totally, but we didn’t take our goal chances. If we had taken them, it would have been a comfortable victory,” he added.
In Group D, Costa Rica and Uruguay advanced to the last 16 and Italy and England were eliminated from the competitions.
