France Wins Group E with Draw against Ecuador
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - France football team advanced to the 2014 World Cup last 16 after a goalless draw against Ecuador on Thursday.
At the Maracana Stadium in Rio, Ecuador captain Antonio Valencia was sent off with a straight red card in the 50th minute.
“I’m overjoyed, thrilled and very satisfied. There’s a whole new competition starting now for us. We’re going to savor the moment and then focus on Nigeria,” France coach Didier Deschamps told FIFA.com.
France will play Group F runner-up Nigeria on June 30.
