France Defeats Nigeria, Qualifies for Quarters
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - France national football team advanced to the 2014 World Cup quarter-final with a 2-0 win over Nigeria in Brasilia on Monday.
Nigerian keeper Vincent Enyeama showed a brilliant performance against France but in the 79th minute he failed to clear a corner kick and Paul Pogba headed the ball into the net.
An own goal by Joseph Yobo gave France an insurance marker in the 91st minute.
"I am very proud of everything we did from the start," said France coach Didier Deschamps.
"There was tension out there. They are a very strong side and there were a lot of duels. But we're through. We're in the quarter-final and we'll do everything we can to go a stage further."
France will play Germany in quarter-final.
