Iran's South Pars Gas Output Reach 25mln Cubic Meters
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Managing-Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company said the the primary process of the natural gas has been successfully tested in the second unit of South Pars’ 12th phase and that the production capacity reach 25 million cubic meters per day (about 1bln cubic feet) by July 22.
“Soon, platform A of the phase 12 with a daily capacity of 28 million cubic meters will come on stream,” said Ali Akbar Shabanpour.
The director pointed that the platform A of phase 12 is seen as the first gas platform set up 0in the Persian Gulf after 8 years, adding that on June 26, the first consignment of gas condensate was loaded and dispatched from Single Point Mooring (SPM) to condensate tanker.
The South Pars gas field, whose development has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar. It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
It is one of the country's main energy resources. This gas field covers an area of 9700 square kilometers, of which 3700 square kilometers belongs to Iran.
The Iranian portion is estimated to contain some 14 TCM of gas reserves and some 18 billion barrels of gas condensates.This amounts to roughly 7.5 % of the world gas reserves and approximately half of the Iran’s gas reserves
