Iran to Launch 10 Crude Oil Storage Facilities in 2015

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran plans to inaugurate ten crude oil storage facilities by early next Iranian year, which will start on March 21, 2015, the head of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) said on Saturday.

10 concrete crude oil tanks in southern cities of Omidiyeh and Gurreh in Khuzestan and Bushehr Provinces are likely to come on stream by early next year, Abdorreza Haji Hosseinnejad stated.

The project of building the crude oil storage facilities in Gurreh is already 85 percent complete, he added.

The facilities are being built for storing a total of seven million barrels of crude oil. This is the first time National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is building concrete crude oil tanks.

Untreated and unrefined crude oil is stored in tanks for shipment to other locations or processing into finished products.
