IRGC Official: Parts of Downed Israeli Drone Undamaged

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said some components of an Israeli spy drone shot down on Sunday by the corps’ aerospace division in Iran’s airspace has remained undamaged.

“Some components of the Zionist regime’s downed drone are undamaged and the (Iranian) experts are studying their data,” Head of the IRGC Public Relations Department General Ramezan Sharif told the Tasnim News Agency on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the IRGC announced that it had tracked and shot down an Israeli unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

It said the targeted aircraft was a radar-evading stealth drone which was intending to penetrate the airspace over Natanz nuclear zone.

The intruding drone was intercepted by a surface-to-air missile, it said.

Less than a week ago, a senior Iranian military commander had said Iran's air defense units keep close watch on the “tiniest moves” in the country's airspace.

Lieutenant Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base General Ali Reza Sabahi-Fard said on Monday that the country’s entire airspace is closely monitored by the integrated network of air defense.
