Iran Wins Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship


TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran swept Japan in straight sets (25-11, 25-22, 25-23) in the final match of the 2014 Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Saturday.

Iran defeated Qatar (3-0), India (3-0) and Bahrain (3-0) in the preliminary round.

The team also defeated South Korea (3-0) and Japan (3-0) in Pool F.

In the quarterfinals round, the Iranian team defeated Australia 3-0 and swept China 3-0 to book a place in the final game.

In the final match, the Iranian team beat Japan in straight sets (25-11, 25-22, 25-23) and claimed the title.

Asian Youth Boys Volleyball Championship is held every two years. Top four teams Iran, Japan, China and Chinese Taipei qualified directly to the FIVB Boys U-19 World Championship 2015.
