Iran’s Karateka Chalaki Wins Bronze Medal in Asiad
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran’s Karateka Fatemeh Chalaki claimed a bronze medal on Friday in the 2014 Asian Games.
The Iranian woman athlete defeated South Korean Sujung Shin 3-2 at the Gyeyang Gymnasium and won the bronze medal.
Gold medal went to Malaysian Syakilla Salni Binti who defeated Barno Mirzaeva from Uzbekistan.
“Chalaki earned a bronze medal through her experience. The Korean karateka was supported in the hall but Chalaki succeeded to win the bronze medal,” Iran coach Ahmad Safi said.
Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world's second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.
Iran has participated in the games with 276 athletes in 22 sports.
