Iran FM: Certain Countries Pursuing Wrong Policy toward Syria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif denounced certain countries’ stances on the Syrian crisis as the reason behind the complication of the situation in the country.
“Regarding the situation in the region, some countries are pursuing wrong policies toward Syria,” Zarif said during a meeting with the new Belgian ambassador to Tehran Francois Delhaye on Monday evening.
“Some believe that the extremists and the Syrian government are eliminating each other, but such a view makes the situation more complicated,” he noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zarif commented on the relations between Iran and Belgium and expressed the hope that the bilateral ties would be promoted in various spheres, including economy.
During the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister also received a copy of credentials of the new Belgian ambassador.
The new Belgian ambassador, for his part, expressed optimism that cooperation between Tehran and Brussels would be boosted in diverse areas, stressing that there are great capacities to promote mutual cooperation.
