Official: Iran Fully Prepared for Any Possible Case of Ebola
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – An Iranian health ministry official announced that a well-equipped hospital in Tehran is ready to deal with possible cases of Ebola in the country.
“A hospital in Tehran has been designated for the quarantine and treatment of possible cases of Ebola and countering the virus,” Director General of Ministry of Health’s Centre for Disease Control Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Gouya told reporters on Sunday.
The Iranian official also emphasized that no Ebola case has been detected in Iran so far.
Gouya also made assurances that there were no cases of Coronavirus among the Iranian Hajj pilgrims, who have recently returned from Saudi Arabia.
The death toll from the Ebola epidemic has risen to 4,922 out of 10,141 recorded infections, with three West African countries accounting for most of the cases through October 23, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.
Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone have reported 4,912 deaths out of 10,114 cases, the WHO said.
