Iran Advances to FINA World Men's Junior Water Polo Championships
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran qualified for the 2015 FINA World Men's Junior Water Polo Championships on Friday.
The Iranian team defeated host Indonesia 15-10 in the final day of the Asian Junior Water Polo Championship held in Jakarta.
“Our boys deserved to advance to the world championships since they worked hard to achieve that. I hope that we can play warm-up games to get ready for the FINA World Men's Junior Water Polo Championships,” Iran coach Hamid Shabangiz said.
Iran had defeated Uzbekistan 14-9, Singapore 17-6 and China 11-9 in the tournament and lost to Japan 14-5. Japan came first in the competition.
The next editions of the FINA World Men's and Women's Junior Water Polo Championships (20 & U) will be held in 2015. The men's competition will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan from September 4 to 12, with the participation of 20 teams.
The women's tournament will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico on August 15-23, 2015.
