Iranian, Russian Speakers Discuss Parliamentary Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and the visiting chairman of Russia's State Duma, Sergei Naryshkin, held talks over a whole host of issues, including ways to promote parliamentary relations between the two countries.
In a meeting in Tehran on Monday, the two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, and stressed the need to strengthen ties in all spheres, particularly the parliamentary relations.
The Russian parliamentary delegation, headed by Naryshkin, is in Tehran at the invitation of Larijani.
Before his meeting with Larijani, Naryshkin also had met with Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
Tehran and Moscow have taken steps to develop bilateral ties in recent months.
In September, Iran and Russia agreed to boost cooperation in the area of economy and to use national currencies in bilateral trade.
