Iranian MP Raps Violation of Human Rights in US
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker emphasized that the way the black people are treated in the United States is a clear example of “racial discrimination” and systematic violation of human rights.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Rapporteur of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini pointed to the latest developments in the US and deplored the racist measures adopted by the US police against the African-Americans.
“The attitude toward black people in the US is an example of the racial discrimination and the violation of human rights,” he said.
“In order to support the human rights and the rights of black people, we (Iran) side with the American people because we consider any kind of racial discrimination as an act against human rights and ethics,” the Iranian parliamentarian noted.
He also deplored the silence of certain countries and the international bodies about the recent developments in the US, and said this signifies the double-standard approaches adopted by the countries and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights.
The remarks come against a backdrop of weeks of protests underway in Ferguson and other US cities sparked by the killing of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager, by a white US police officer named Darren Wilson.
