Larijani Underlines Expansion of Tehran-Islamabad Ties
ISLAMABAD (Tasnim) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani highlighted the common grounds between Iran and Pakistan and called for development of relations between the two countries.
“We have cultural and religious bonds and share interests with Pakistan and hope to have more economic, political and cultural relations,” Larijani told reporters on Thursday upon arriving at Islamabad airport.
He was received at the airport by Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi.
In his official two-day visit to Islamabad, Larijani will have meetings with several senior Pakistani officials including President Mamnoon Hussain and Senate Chairman Hussain Bukhari.
A parliamentary memorandum of understanding is also expected to be signed between the two neighboring countries during the visit.
