Iranian MP Blames Spread of Terrorism on US, Allies' Miscalculation
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian lawmaker emphasized that the wrong strategic policies adopted by the US and its allies have resulted in the spread of terrorism in the Middle East region.
“The sinister phenomenon of terrorism in the region is the outcome of strategic miscalculation made by the US and its allies in the region,” Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Mexican Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena on Saturday.
Boroujerdi also voiced Iran’s determination to fight terrorism, saying that today, the Islamic Republic’s policies have practically “crippled terrorism” in the region.
Pointing to the bilateral relations between Iran and Mexico, Boroujerdi praised the growing trend of ties between the two countries’ parliaments and said Tehran is ready to promote relations with Mexico City in all spheres.
Kuribrena, for his part, praised Iran’s influential role in the region, saying that Iran plays a leading role in the regional developments.
