Moscow Determined to Help Bring about Nuclear Deal: Ryabkov

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov underlined his country’s resolve to help secure a nuclear agreement between Iran and world powers.

In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaei, the senior Russian diplomat said Moscow is serious about providing help in bring about a final deal on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Sanaei, for his part, lauded Moscow’s positive role in the nuclear talks, and called on Russia to continue its active role until an agreement is reached.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) have held several round of talks to hammer out a final agreement to end a decade of impasse over Tehran’s civilian nuclear work.

In their latest round of negotiations, diplomatic delegations from the two sides have gathered in Switzerland’s Geneva to work out a set of issues related to Tehran’s peaceful nuclear issue.

The talks are held at the level of deputy foreign ministers and experts.

This is the first round of negotiations after the parties decided to extend for more 7 months a self-imposed deadline for signing a comprehensive agreement.
