Official Calls Iran’s Policies on Nuclear Energy "Transparent"
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian reiterated the peaceful nature of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activities, saying that Tehran has adopted transparent policies on the issue.
“Iran’s policies on various issues, such as nuclear energy, have been transparent and there is nothing to be worried about in Iran’s peaceful (nuclear) activities,” Nahavandian said in a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Tehran Aud Lise Norheim on Saturday evening.
He also emphasized that the nuclear negotiations between Iran and six world powers cannot continue forever and the talks should yield result within a specific period.
The Iranian official also called on the European Union member states, Norway in particular, to play a more active role to that end (reach result).
In November, Iran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) concluded a week of intensive nuclear talks in Vienna without reaching a long-awaited deal they were supposed to hammer out by the self-imposed November 24 deadline.
The two sides concluded a round of deputy-level talks on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program in Switzerland’s Geneva on December 17.
The Swiss city will reportedly once again host the next round of talks before January 20, 2015.
As regard Tehran-Oslo relations, Nahavandian said that the Islamic Republic welcomes close cooperation with all EU members, including Norway, in the areas of economy and culture.
In the meeting, the Norwegian envoy pointed to her country’s eagerness to actively participate in Iran’s market, and said during her tenure, she will make every effort to help mutual cooperation between the two countries further promote.
