Top Negotiator Confident about Protecting Iran’s Rights in N. Deal
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the only solution to Iran’s nuclear issue is to respect Tehran’s rights.
“I believe that the comprehensive nuclear deal can safeguard all Iran’s nuclear rights,” Zarif said in a Monday meeting with his Kenyan counterpart in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi, adding that he hopes for a desirable outcome in nuclear talks.
Stressing that the deal can also give the opposite side the assurance that Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful, Zarif stated, "Such a deal is achievable."
Zarif further noted that member of the the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UNSC members plus Germany) have reached the conclusion that "the best and even the only way to resolve the issue is to respect Tehran’s nuclear rights."
At the meeting, Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and International Trade Amina Mohamed also voiced her support for Iran’s right to enjoy nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
